Lifeway Kefir

What is kefir? (pronounced kee-fur or keh-fear) its like a yogurt, only more liquidy. Its upgraded and optimized for maximum health benefits and and great tangy taste. Its packed with probiotics, kefir contains more of this good-for-the-gut bacteria than any yogurt out there.

Kefir can be frozen and wont loose its probiotic health benefits by doing so. Its gluten free and 99% lactose free. It contains 12 live & active cultures. (makes you feel as if your ingesting a live creature)

Kefir history
Kefir is the smooth, tart and refreshing cousin of yogurt and its roots can be traced back more than 2000 years. Originating in the Caucasus Mountains of Europe, where people live well past 100 years, the word kefir is thought to have been derived from the Turkish word "Keif" for "good feeling", probably due to the sense of well-being experienced after drinking it.

Serving Suggestions:
Pour over your favorite cereals, granola or fruit. Blend to make smoothies.Or just drink by itself. Contents in bottle will remain fresh even after opening, just pour it into a glass and don't drink straight from the bottle because bacteria from your mouth will contaminate the product and will make it spoil.

I enjoy making kefir pops using my Zoku popsicle maker. Since freezing it doesn't "hurt" it - Ill make pops for the family. Whats nice is that even my picky son who doesn't like this product straight will enjoy it frozen.
Its really good as an addition to making smoothies. I enjoy it as is and know that its so good for me.
